History
Ian Stewart, our founder, created the Handybar® in 1998 when his passion for soccer caused serious injuries in both his knees. After undergoing surgery, he realized how an activity that he took for granted, simply getting in and out of his own car, could suddenly become a challenging and even painful situation. Years of experimentation resulted in the version that we see today. A portable support handle to help people in and out of their cars more easily. Avenue Innovations holds the patent worldwide and commercializes it in over 20 countries.
Given a deep understanding of the growing need for affordable assistive devices that help people maintain their dignity, independence and freedom as they age, Avenue Innovations celebrated a strategic partnership with Stander Inc. in 2010, which has evolved into an exclusive Canadian Distribution agreement.
Avenue Innovations Inc. will continue to develop new ways to strengthen its partnerships with specialists, manufacturers and retailers alike, in order to add value at all levels, while delivering the best solution for each specific need.
